Madrid; a Beautiful City
On our second day in Madrid, we went on a walking tour and got to see the major parts of the city. This included Puerta de Sol, Plaza Mayor, the old palace, a few monuments, and so much more. We also got to visit the Prado Museum. Here we viewed many Renaissance paintings and learned about perspective, vanishing points, and architecture within the paintings. Greco, Velázquez, and Goya were the artists whom paintings we focused on. After our tour of the museum, our group had a few hours of free time.
We decided to visit the Jardín de Botánico. This garden was filled with an abundance of different plants and beautiful landscaping. When we left the garden, we walked to the old post office in Madrid and got to go on the observation deck, where we were able to get an amazing view of Madrid. On the way back to the hotel, we stopped off at a few stores and went shopping (there are really good sales here during the month of July!)
We finished the night with a good dinner by the hotel, and then packed for our departure to Toledo the next morning. Overall, the second day in Madrid was a great experience where we all learned a lot and also had fun!
