Los Colores de Costa Rica
My first week in Costa Rica has been full of color. Bright shades cover walls and houses that seem to represent the spirit of the Costa Rican culture. The people I’ve met here are genuinely content with their lives, and seem unaffected by the day-to-day worries that plague the American culture.
Here, no one seems to be in a rush; instead there is a focus on the joy of small events, whether that is a meal with ones family, or a sidewalk run-in with a distant friend. The physical brightness here provides a smile for a passerby and reminds us to enjoy and be thankful for what and whom we have in our lives. As I walk to the university every day, I pass colorful walls and painted trees, and receive smiles that make me even more thankful that I chose to study abroad in Costa Rica this summer.
